Indonesia has one of the largest child populations in the world. Like Brazil, India, and China, the country is recognized as an emerging market. However, according to data from the WHO and Statista, as of March 2023, approximately 25.9 million Indonesians are living in poverty; only less than 70 percent of children have access to education, and many have dropped out from school. Compounding the issue is the fact that around four million children and teenagers under the age of 17 are forced to work, many of whom even have to endure exploitative and dangerous conditions. In response to this pressing situation, CoinEx Charity, an international charity organization, has launched the Back to School program. This initiative aims to help underprivileged Indonesian children gain access to education and donate care packages to impoverished households in local communities.

In the midst of Indonesia’s garbage dumps, where decaying leftovers, flattened soda cans, plastic waste, and tattered clothing pile high, many children clad in flip-flops meticulously sift through the debris. Amel and Sekar, two orphans, make a living through scavenging and begging beneath an overpass. Their humble abode consists of ramshackle structures pieced together from scraps of wood and metal. Damar and Dadan, though not orphans, face similar challenges as they come from a financially struggling family and are compelled to scavenge at the garbage dump every day.

Damar, Amel, and Sekar are currently receiving support from CoinEx Charity, an international charitable organization. During a recent visit by the CoinEx Charity team this year, these children were provided with guidance and solutions to their challenges and concerns as well as the opportunity to access education. “Our Back to School program targets underprivileged children globally, many of whom are obliged to work,” a member of the CoinEx Charity team said, “We are helping them return to school, continue their education, and instill in parents the significance of education. After all, without education, they could hardly break free from poverty in the long run.”

CoinEx Charity has decided to give children like Amel a hand to help them return to school, free them from the daily struggles of scavenging in garbage dumps, and provide life relief for their families. For the first stop of the Back to School program, the CoinEx Charity team visited several households in Indonesia. During their visits, the team learned about the living conditions of impoverished students, and provided life reliefs. The organization’s donations, including learning supplies and everyday essentials like books, stationery, clothing, and food, were delivered during the home visits so that they could reach the most impoverished students.

CoinEx Charity has also implemented a scholarship program designed to alleviate the financial burden on underprivileged students. This program covers not only tuition fees but also other educational expenses, ensuring that these students receive consistent and stable support throughout their academic journey. By granting this scholarship, CoinEx Charity aims to empower these students to unleash their full potential and fulfill their aspirations. The scholarship provided by CoinEx Charity encompasses not only tuition fees but also book expenses and living costs. With such efforts, these impoverished children can successfully complete their studies and lay a solid foundation for their future careers.

The Back to School program initiated by CoinEx Charity has garnered significant support and recognition from both the local government and communities. Government officials have demonstrated their belief that this endeavor will greatly enhance the educational opportunities for underprivileged students, ultimately paving the way for a brighter future. Local educational institutions have also expressed deep gratitude for the generous contributions made by CoinEx Charity, acknowledging the positive impact it will have on the students’ lives.

Going forward, CoinEx Charity is committed to expanding its Back to School program, providing educational support and opportunities for more underprivileged students worldwide. CoinEx Charity hopes that the program will contribute to a good cause and open the door to success and happiness for the kids in need, ultimately fulfilling its mission: Via Blockchain, Making the World a Better Place. Furthermore, the charity organization also plans to encourage other charities and philanthropists to focus on educational welfare and make joint efforts to alleviate poverty and improve educational standards.
